Juneteenth 2023

Juneteenth has only been a federal holiday since 2021, when President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law. However, for many years communities throughout the United States have celebrated this day.

Why Juneteenth (or June 19th)?

On June 19, 1865, Texas became the last state of the Confederacy to abolish institutional slavery.

Regardless of who you are, or where your community may be, here are a few ideas of what you can do to celebrate Juneteenth:
